Real (Real, Raw & Ripped #1)
by Katy Evans

A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

Heather’s Thoughts:

So this was the debut novel for Katy Evans and she comes out with quite a bang. The two main characters are both athletes. Brooke is a runner who suffered a career ending injury. Remington, or Remy, is an underground boxer. One fateful night Remy spots Brooke at one of his matches.

Remy is a machine. He trains harder than anyone Brooke has ever seen. Brooke is starting her career in sports medicine. She just finished college and is trying to land a job and start paying some bills. When Remy offers her a job helping him train, she takes it.

Brooke finds herself immediately attracted to this amazing athlete. Remy is a little different from anyone she has ever met before. He is extremely intense. He wants Brooke, but he wants all of her. He is not about to just give in for a one night fling. When they finally give in to their amazing chemistry, he vows she will be his forever.

“Why’d you want to have sex with me? To have a fucking adventure? What was I supposed to be? Your one-night-fucking stand? I’m every woman’s adventure, damn you, and I don’t want to be yours. I want to be your fucking REAL. You get that? If I fuck you, I want you to belong to me. To be mine. I want you to give yourself to me—not Riptide!”

Brooke soon starts to see that Remy has two very different sides to his personality. He can be gentle and loving but when the darkness comes, he turns into a raging bull.  Despite this, Brooke finds herself slipping and falling into the madness that is Remy and she is not sure she is ever going to want out.

“I’m so fucking in love with you I don’t even know what to do with myself anymore.”- Remy

The intensity becomes overwhelming. Remy is hot and possessive alpha male on steroids.

“He’s not just a star, he’s the whole fucking sky to me. He’s the sun and every planet in this galaxy. “- Brooke

The sex…it is INTENSE!

So when Brooke sets out on her own on a daring mission, Remy goes a little insane.

This is where this book lost a star for me. Potential spoiler ahead….(He has Bipolar Disorder, the way the book describes the illness and the way it plays out is…well it is not quite right.) Remy goes unhinged. His team helps him the only way they know how when he gets this way. Brooke is pretty sure she can save him on love and sex alone.

I loved everything else about this book.  This book got some very high reviews from a lot of readers. I definitely loved Remy and all of his craziness and I loved him with Brooke as well. While this book was a little dramatic and over the top in parts, it was also very entertaining. So for that…definitely worth the four stars on this one.

About Reading Haven

I am a thirty something wife and mother of two. I read in all of my free time. I can't remember the last time I chose to watch television. I would prefer reading or hanging out online24/7 but one must pay the bills, thus my day job. I like UF but lately have been exploring more erotica and adult romance novels. I love a good Alpha male and I am not afraid of the dark stuff. I like historical romance as well. Sometimes I go for the YA stuff. I'm a sap for a good love story. I prefer a HEA (insert unicorns, rainbows and kittens). Genres I will read: Contemporary Romance and some Historical Romance, Erotica, Urban Fantasy, Young Adult, and Paranormal Romance.
