Heather’s Thoughts:

This is the fourth installment of The Secret series by Jessica Sorensen. The first two chronicle the budding romantic relationship of Ella and Micha. The third book looks at two secondary characters, Lila and Ethan. This fourth book goes back to Ella and Micha and follows them through their “Happily Ever After”. But things between Ella and Micha rarely go as they are supposed to.

Ella and Micha have known each other since they were small kids. They were next door neighbors. Ella moved in and Micha was immediately drawn to her. She was the shy kid next door and Micha just wanted to make her smile. Little did he know that she would become his everything.

Micha was no stranger to pain. His father abandoned his family when he was very young. But Ella dealt with pain on a daily basis. Her father was a raging alcoholic and her mother had Bipolar disorder and committed suicide. Ella was forced to grow up entirely too early. This childhood left a huge scar on Ella’s heart. As she and Micha begin searching for their happy ending, she can’t help but worry that she will end up just like her mother.

Ella loves Mich with all of her heart, but she questions if this love will be enough. While worrying about what the future holds, Ella gets a rare and precious gift from the past. It explains many things but also leads to more questions. Ella wants to do what she always does, run.

But Micha knows her all too well. He loves her more than ever and he is bound and determined to marry her one way or another.

Sometimes to move forward, you have to go back to the beginning.

This book left me feeling warm and fuzzy. Like a snuggle on a cold winters day.

What I loved…

It wrapped up nicely, it was just the right amount of warm and fuzzy, it was consistent and true to the characters, the dialogue was as amazing as always, some significant questions were answered and of course… Micha Scott. **SWOON**

What I didn’t like so much…

The fourth book in a romance series is really hard. You have to make it new and interesting. This book just felt like more of the same. I wanted to read it and I definitely enjoyed it, but it got a little boring in parts. Even with that, I would give this 4+ stars. Not my favorite in the series, but still quite good.

Others seemed to have really liked this one. They are probably the ones who enjoy to see the end of the story more than the angst-filled beginning. Maybe I am odd that way, but take it as you will. I would still highly recommend you read this one if you are reading the series.

About Reading Haven

I am a thirty something wife and mother of two. I read in all of my free time. I can't remember the last time I chose to watch television. I would prefer reading or hanging out online24/7 but one must pay the bills, thus my day job. I like UF but lately have been exploring more erotica and adult romance novels. I love a good Alpha male and I am not afraid of the dark stuff. I like historical romance as well. Sometimes I go for the YA stuff. I'm a sap for a good love story. I prefer a HEA (insert unicorns, rainbows and kittens). Genres I will read: Contemporary Romance and some Historical Romance, Erotica, Urban Fantasy, Young Adult, and Paranormal Romance.
